Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

MoveMyTest is operated by The Driving Training Centre Ltd ("we", "us", "our"). This policy explains what personal information the service uses and why.

2. Information we collect

We collect the following types of information:

  • Account information — Email address, password (hashed), mobile number, and ADI number (for instructors).
  • Test and matching details — Current and original centre, date, time, booking category, remaining-change confirmation, desired dates, times and centres, and your DVSA booking reference. The reference is required for a listing, encrypted at rest and never shown publicly.
  • Instructor-link details — ADI or trainee identifier and, where supplied with permission, an instructor's name, email address and mobile number.
  • Usage data — How you interact with the site, including pages visited and features used.
  • Communication data — Messages sent through our support system and contact forms.

3. How we use your information

  • To match you with suitable test swap partners.
  • To manage your account and provide customer support.
  • To send important notifications about your listings and matches.
  • To publish a non-identifying test-slot availability summary on the relevant public test-centre page so learners can see where and when swaps may be available.
  • To improve our service and develop new features.
  • To comply with legal obligations and prevent fraud.

Public test-centre pages may show the test centre, calendar date, a broad morning, afternoon or evening band and whether the learner wants an earlier or later test. The public summary never shows the exact appointment time, name, contact details, account or listing identifier, preferred centres or detailed date range, instructor details or booking reference. Only active, eligible listings are included, and the summary is removed when a listing is paused, matched, expired, completed or deleted.

We rely on our legitimate interests in operating and explaining MoveMyTest for this limited availability summary. We restrict the published fields so the information is useful without identifying the learner or exposing anything needed to access or change a booking.

4. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We only share information with:

  • Matched learners — Test centre, date, time and booking category for a private proposal. Contact details are not shown. Booking references are revealed only after both learners accept and separately consent to the phone process.
  • DTC Test Swap — The matching fields needed to search the shared confidential network. A booking reference is transferred only for an agreed cross-platform match after the learner confirms it for the DVSA call.
  • Service providers — Trusted third parties who help us operate the site (hosting, email delivery).
  • Analytics provider — Google Analytics 4 processes consented website-usage data on our behalf so we can understand and improve the service.
  • Legal authorities — When required by law or to protect our rights.

5. Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 only when you choose to allow optional analytics cookies. It helps us understand information such as pages viewed, approximate location, device type, referral source and interactions with site features. We do not use this information to display personalised advertising.

Analytics consent is optional and can be changed at any time through Cookie preferences in the site footer. Google Analytics event data is retained for 14 months. See our Cookie Policy and Google's Privacy Policy for more information.

6. Data security

Passwords are hashed using scrypt. Booking references are encrypted at rest and access is limited to the agreed match process. No online service can promise absolute security, so we also minimise the information we collect.

7. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your account and data.
  • Withdraw consent for optional analytics cookies.
  • Withdraw consent for marketing communications.
  • Lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

8. Data retention

We retain your data for as long as necessary to provide our service and comply with legal obligations. When you delete your account, we remove or anonymise your personal data within 30 days.
